For the 2015 - 2016 school year,
Flexible scheduling allows for collaborative planning and teaching to take place and supports the literacy goals of the school.
Students and teachers must be able to come to the library throughout the day to use information sources, to read for
pleasure, and to meet and work with other students and teachers.

The Swift School Library works to provide an ever-renewing resource of information in a variety of formats, as well as instruction in its access and use in order to support the goals of the school curriculum. I strive to encourage independent and group exploration, creativity, and critical thinking while fostering the love of reading.

student forgets their library book, they aren't allowed to check out a new book until they bring it back. While their classmates are checking out a new book, they will have an opportunity to ‘browse’ books, but not take a new book home.
Please know that Mr. Rogers is never angry or upset with a child if they forget their library book. This will probably happen to everyone at one time or another, and is not a reason for a student to be upset. Students are simply reminded to bring the book the following week so that they have the enjoyment and practice of selecting a new title.
After a few weeks of forgetting a book, a reminder notice will be sent home to make the family aware of what book has been taken home.
3rd - 8th grade students take home 2 library books every week (as needed). Students should be reading longer books that may take more than a week to finish. They are always able to switch books sooner if they need to, by coming to the library at the end of the day with a pass from their teacher.
Other information about book check-out:
lost books: $15.
Because students are choosing books themselves, you may find that the book is too hard or too easy for your child. This should improve as we learn how to pick appropriate titles. Of course, if there is an issue with any selection please don’t hesitate to contact Mr. Rogers.
4th – 8th grade students are able to manage their accounts online and see what books they have checked out, renew books, or put books on hold. See Mr. Rogers for username and password if you’re interested in this!
